OUGD504: Design Production - Progression Crit

Today I had my second crit with Lorraine and my peers. I was at first quite annoyed that my second crit was a week behind other peoples but I think that when my last crit was over I needed the time to go away and think about my concept and target audience and make some changes. I definitely did this and went into my crit feeling much more confident about my concept and target audience.

I chose to present mainly drawings because I found that my design boards were wasted last week. I made sure that I had a clearly mapped out concept and target audience in order for people to understand what I had in mind more. I wanted to cover both print and web because I only presented one the week prior.

I had changed my concept for web quite drastically from my initial idea and content because I did not feel like it was necessarily relevant for the target audience that I wanted to appeal to. I changed my idea full circle to be aimed at primary schools and encourage children to be more creative. I am creating a competition for primary schools to design the cover of the tube map. I was unsure whether to include just schools in London or nationwide but from my crit I was swayed more to the nationwide option.

My print pack had altered slightly by lowering the target audience slightly, doing this allowed me to focus the content much more and made me much more confident about my idea.

Feedback from the crit:

Overall, I came away from the crit feeling much more positive about my idea and that I was on track with the concepts. I have a few tasks to do in order to iron out all of the kinks and I will be doing these over the coming weeks. I think that gathering more primary research is essential, this is going to be my priority over the next few weeks.
