To start this brief I made a quick brainstorm of all the different types of print I could think of. As the aim of the brief is to inform people who do not know what print is I need to understand each different process and how to get to a final resolution. Having not done a foundation degree I know very little about print which makes me part of my target audience. I am going to find this task quite difficult and time consuming because I have to firstly catch up on what print is and then apply the information to my design and information pack.
Having listed all of the processes I can think of or know about I think it will be quite difficult to produce an information pack with all of these, and more which I do not know about. I think I am going to have to pick between 6-8 processes and produce my pack around them. If I decide to produce a publication however, I can include all of the processes. I need to decide whether I want to illustrate my information pack or use photography. As I have not yet used photography I think this would be a great opportunity to do so though I enjoy hand rendered illustrations. All of these decisions come down to the target audience and tone of voice I choose to use.
As the brief says to produce a pack of things which we 'need to know' other things will need to be covered such as Format, cost, stock, ink etc. It also says things to remember, I think this will be a great opportunity to contact some printers who are in the industry and ask them to give me some tips and helpful information which I can use within my pack. As I have a short amount of time to produce this pack I cannot find out all of the information by myself.
