OUGD503: Responsive - Individual Practice (AE | DesignBox)

I was asked to create a small booklet for a small company in my town. AE | DesignBox is a small mother and daughter project which specialises in creating young, unique and creative t-shirt designs. Starting out as a small Tie-Dye project the company has expanded to create one-of-a-kind designs which are widely sought after within the town.

As part of the promotion for this company they were required to have a small booklet which detailed the options available and the prices. This would be shown at a local charity event, where AE | DesignBox had donated two t-shirts to help raise money.

I was asked to design a small booklet based on the information from their Facebook page. They wanted photographs of their t-shirts within the book, along with some other items which were in development. The photos which were on the Facebook page were not the best quality, this meant that I would need to take some new photos for the booklet. I created a small area in the garden, to enable natural light and photographed the t-shirts.

My Photos

I am very happy with my photography within this fast moving project but I would like to improve on this substantially and think it could become a hobby of mine.

Designing the booklet:

When talking to the owners they wanted something which was small in size but clear enough for people to read. I wanted to create something which fit onto an A4 page but was slightly more personalised, I created a custom size which was approved by the company and started to layout the information.

Evaluation:

I thoroughly enjoyed this brief as it challenged me. I was able to experiment with photography and also layout. The charity event was very successful and many new orders came in over the facebook page. This was a great achievement for the local company who will continue to grow over the coming months.
