When first exploring my ideas of dialogue I came up with a few ideas.
- Verbal communication
- Visual Communication
- Public Speaking
- Signs and Semiotics
I am currently working on briefs for other modules that could be considered as dialogue. I am working on a wayfinding and signage brief for Context of Practice 2 where I have written a critical essay about the use of type versus image in visual communication. I am also completing a research brief about the Oscars where I am focusing on the acceptance speeches from the 2014 ceremony. I want to include a link to these other briefs because I have the research to go with them at this time. I also want to put forward my personal opinion about verbal communication and how conversations between people in physical situations has become somewhat extinct.
I produced one submission based on semiotics, I used the male, female and disabled symbols commonly found in public bathrooms. I submitted this as an outline image so that it would work well in a blind collaboration.
Secondly, I submitted a scene from a film called Small Talk. This was my own way of putting my opinion across in a way that linked with my other modules and my personal interests, film.
I used a serif font in a typewriter format to highlight an old manuscript and created 2 characters who would speak on a regular basis. This conversation is one that many people have every single day, it is a series of mindless questions that did not require any thought into the answers. I wanted to show in this submission that communication between people has become uniform and with very little emotion.
My third submission was an example of an Oscars speech from the Best Actor, Matthew McConaughey. I used a copy of his speech accompanied by an image of him, that I edited, in the top corner.
Unfortunately this submission could not be accepted due to copyright issues but I did enjoy putting the submission together and I am considering producing something with it in my 505 module.

Evaluation:
Overall, I enjoyed this brief very much as it was a chance to try something different and also be involved in a college run project. I have never been interested in screen printing as it is not something I consider to be good at but I enjoyed producing the artwork for a screen print exhibition. I think that Yoke did a great job and the exhibition space looked very good.
