OUGD503: Responsive - Individual Practice (Erico Eriflex)

Erico Eriflex:

The brief:

Design 2 flyers to promote the Erico products on sale at 2 electrical distributors.

I was asked to create 2 flyers for the global company, Erico Eriflex. One of these flyers would be for web and another for print purposes. I was given the images and the information to go on each flyer so all I had to do was play around with the layout.

Images:

These images are required to work throughout both flyers.

Some of these images are not the best quality so I will have to choose the best options to include in the final flyer. The client has agreed to this.

Designing flyer 1:

This flyer is made for web so it has to be at a certain pixel setting and size. I also have to make sure that I use a web safe font even though the design will be inserted as an image I want to be sure that the design works effectively on web.

Layout and grid:

Playing around with the different layouts for the price lists and brochures.

Erico have a total of three brochures on offer at this distributor, the intial layout only showed the one brochure, I was asked to go back and add in the three brochures which was actually better for the grid and meant that the flyer was more weighted and even.

Designing flyer 2:

This flyer needed much less information and more imagery. Each of the images was a different size so I devised a simple grid to ensure that even though they were different in size they each sat in an equal space.

Layout and grid -

I used the same layout from the first flyer and left the centre of the flyer for the print content, I devised a 6 part grid with space for each image and line of text to describe the product.

I only used five images which meant that I had one area without any image to fill the space. I did however, have the address to fit into the design. I drew out a box to fill the space and placed the address and details inside it.

Evaluation:

This brief was another quick turn around and did not require me to do much in the way of an image based response. I enjoyed working with the client and also experimenting with layout and grid. The images were not the best quality and I had to pass on my designs to another design studio for them to print and upload the designs. I was careful to do this by sending them a PDF only so that they could not alter my design in any way.
