OUGD404 - Colour Theory : Short Presentation

As a short task we were asked to pair up and come up with a short experimental presentation which showcased our understanding of Colour Theory so far.

I worked with Harrison. We chose a Red bag and placed it on different coloured backgrounds and recorded the differences.

Medium value of tone and hue because it is situated between yellow and blue.

Yellow has some saturation but not as much as blue there is some contrast but not a high value.

High level contrast of extension, both are fighting for attention but red is bigger proportion.

High temperature contrast - Yellow leans towards green - driven further away.

Increased value of complimentary colours.

Low contrast of tone and hue because of their close tonal values.

Lower contrast of saturation as orange is less saturated.

Proportion is lower due to lower tonal values meaning they are not fighting for attention as much.

Low contrast of temp as red has hints of orange.

Low complimentary contrast value because they have similar values on the colour wheel.

Moderate-High contrast of tone because the red is situated between high and low values of blue and yellow.

High Saturation as the blue is very desaturated, almost grey.

Moderate contrast of extension because 2 colours position on colour wheel red taking attention and the colours are not balanced.

High contrast of temperature because blue is cold and red it slightly orange.

High complimentary contrast because the red bag has hints of orange but blue is closer to violet as opposed to green it lowers its value.

Similar tonal value.

Low contrast of hue because similar value as background.

Moderate saturation as background is less saturated.

Slight contrast of temp as background has hints of violet (colder) whereas red is more orange (warmer)

Low contrast of extension as they are similar tones

Low complimentary contrast as both reds are not fighting for attention

High contrast of tone and hue due to neutral having low value of tone.

High contrast of saturation

High contrast of extension as red draws in all attention

High value of contrast of temp as neutral has tones of blue

Medium value of complimentary contrast. 

High tonal and hue contrast.

High level of saturation.

Moderate contrast of extension.

High level of complimentary contrast as they are complimentary colours.
